Transmission Fluid Service
What is Transmission fluid?
Transmission fluid is a fluid inside your transmission that acts as a lubricant to the various parts of the transmission. It cleans and protects the metal surfaces from wear along with conditioning the gaskets and enhancing the cooling function to reduce high operating temperatures. Maintaining the integrity of this fluid is vital to maintaining the health of your transmission.
How do I know when my transmission fluid should be serviced?
Some manufacturers recommend replacing the fluid as early as 60,000 miles, and some wait until 90,000 or 100,000 miles to replace. Dirty fluid, fluid with metal flakes or fluid that smells burnt can compromise your vehicle’s transmission, which can be a costly repair. Maintaining healthy fluid, can prolong the life of your transmission and save you money in the long run.
