4.5+ star average rating on Google

I found a vehicle that I was interested in buying and decide to have a pre purchase inspection done. I googled automotive shops near the car lot that do a pre purchase inspection. I came across McCabe’s, gave them a call and spoke with CJ. She gave me all the info I needed, quoted me the price, and set up my appointment. She called me after the inspection and gave me the report and emailed it to me. This was hands down the best interaction I have ever had with an auto repair shop.
I highly recommend McCabe’s.

FAQs About Routine Maintenance & Inspections

Staying current on factory-recommended service keeps your vehicle reliable and prevents avoidable repairs. These answers explain what to schedule and when to come in.

Maintenance Intervals

Every vehicle has a service timeline based on mileage and time. If you’re unsure what’s due, we can check your schedule and get you booked.

  • How often should I change my oil? Most vehicles need an oil and filter change every 5,000–7,500 miles. Short trips, heavy traffic, or towing may require shorter intervals. If you’re unsure, schedule an oil service and we’ll confirm the right cadence for your vehicle.
  • When do I need 30/60/90K maintenance? These milestones group important services like fluid exchanges, filter replacements, belt checks, and system inspections. We’ll review your factory plan and complete the services your vehicle is due for at that visit.
  • Does time matter even with low mileage? Yes. Fluids absorb moisture, belts and seals age, and batteries degrade even when a car isn’t driven much. If it’s been a year or more since service, book a maintenance visit and we’ll assess by time and condition.
  • Can you tell me exactly what my car needs now? Yes, in the shop. We’ll review your history, look up the manufacturer schedule, and inspect current condition. That way you get a clear, prioritized plan without guessing.

Tune-Ups & Performance

If your vehicle feels different than normal, a tune-up visit helps restore smooth, efficient operation.

  • What problems can a tune-up address? Rough idle, hesitation, misfires, slow starts, or inaccurate sensor readings. We inspect ignition parts, airflow, and related systems during your appointment to recommend exactly what will restore performance.
  • How often should I get a tune-up? Many modern vehicles benefit around 60K–100K miles. Stop-and-go commutes and short trips can move that earlier. If performance has changed, schedule a tune-up evaluation.
  • My engine feels sluggish. What should I do? Book a visit. We’ll check filters, spark plugs, coils, and intake condition in-person so you’re not replacing parts unnecessarily.
  • Can a tune-up improve fuel economy? Often, yes. Addressing worn ignition parts and restricted airflow helps the engine run efficiently. We’ll confirm what applies to your vehicle during the appointment.

Pre-Purchase Inspections (Used Cars)

A pre-purchase inspection helps you avoid surprises and buy with confidence.

  • What do you check in a pre-purchase inspection? Major systems including brakes, suspension, steering, tires, fluids, cooling, and visible leaks, plus a road assessment. If we see a concern, we can scan the vehicle as part of the visit.
  • Will you tell me if it’s a good buy? We’ll document what we find, estimated repairs, and near-term maintenance so you can make an informed decision or negotiate price.
  • Should I get a PPI even if the car drives fine? Yes. Many issues aren’t obvious on a short test drive. Schedule a PPI before you commit so you know what you’re getting.
  • Do I need the seller present? Not required. If lift access or longer testing is needed, we can coordinate with the seller and keep you updated.
