See What We Check. See What Your Car Needs.

Most shops give you a quick summary at the counter or a checklist with boxes marked off. At McCabe’s, every inspection comes with a detailed digital report you can review on your phone before you pick up your car. It’s organized by system, backed by photos, and built to show you exactly what was inspected, what looks good, and what may need attention next.

A Real Inspection Report, Built Around the Vehicle

What you’re looking at is a real McCabe’s inspection report with identifying details removed. Different vehicles have different systems, service intervals, and failure points, and the report reflects that instead of forcing everything into a generic checklist. Every report follows the same logic. Findings are grouped by system, so you can quickly understand what was checked under the hood, underneath the vehicle, at the brakes, tires, and more. Each item is either passed or flagged for future attention. Passed items show what the technician actually inspected. Flagged items include the condition, the recommended action, and why it matters.

This example does not show urgent problems because this particular vehicle was in good shape. That matters too. A useful inspection is not one that finds something at any cost. It is one that tells the truth about the condition of the vehicle. If a car is solid, the report should say so. If something needs attention, it should say that clearly too.

Cabin Air Filter
Condition
Cabin Air Filter Change at Mileage Intervals
Recommended Action
Replace Cabin Air Filter
Cabin air filters remove pollutants, pollen, and dust from air inside the vehicle. Replacement recommended every 15,000–20,000 miles. Your vehicle's mileage calls for replacement at this time.
Fuel System
Condition
Recommended for Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended Action
Fuel Induction Service
Fuel induction service is recommended every 15,000 to 30,000 miles to remove carbon deposits from the intake system, throttle body, and fuel injectors.
Transmission Fluid — Sealed Unit
Condition
Sealed Unit — Service at Mileage Intervals
Recommended Action
Automatic Transmission Fluid Exchange
Your vehicle's transmission is a sealed unit. Service is determined by mileage intervals. Transmission fluid lubricates, cleans, and maintains correct operating temperature.
Under Vehicle
Transfer Case
Condition
Service Fluid Based on Age and Mileage
Recommended Action
Transfer Case Fluid Exchange
Transfer case fluid lubricates and regulates temperature in the transfer case. This fluid breaks down over time and should be changed to retain lubrication properties and prevent unnecessary wear.
Tires
Wheel Alignment
Condition
Due for Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended Action
Wheel Alignment
Proper alignment prevents uneven tire wear, improves handling and safety, protects suspension components, and improves fuel efficiency.
Under Hood
Engine Oil Level
Condition
Engine Oil Level Low Before Service
Recommended Action
Oil Level Recorded — Reduce Service Interval
During our inspection we found your engine oil was very low. The oil needs to be checked more often or your service interval reduced. Insufficient lubrication can lead to significant engine damage.
Battery
Condition
Battery Fails State-of-Health Testing
Recommended Action
Battery Replacement
The battery may still have enough power to start the vehicle, but it's not able to fully charge and needs to be addressed to prevent you from being stranded.
Air Filter
Condition
Air Filter is Dirty
Recommended Action
Replace Engine Air Filter
During our inspection we found your engine air filter dirty and needs to be replaced at this time. A dirty air filter restricts airflow and can cause reduced performance and fuel efficiency.
Anti-Freeze / Coolant
Condition
Coolant Level Low — Possible Leak
Recommended Action
Pressure Test & Diagnose · Coolant Fluid Exchange
Your vehicle's coolant level is low. A pressure test is recommended to determine if there is a leak in the system. Your cooling system fluid also needs to be changed to protect components from rust and corrosion and prevent overheating.
Brakes
Rear Disc Brake Pads — Wheel Removed
Condition
Brake Pads Worn Beyond Limits
Recommended Action
Disc Brake Pads & Rotors (Rear)
Your rear brake pads have 2mm of pad thickness left. It is time to replace the rear brake pads and rotors. The brake pads are no longer safe and need to be replaced.
Under Vehicle
Differential
Condition
Service Based on Mileage · Axle Seal Leaking
Recommended Action
Differential Pinion Seal · Axle Shaft Seal
Your differential fluid needs to be changed due to vehicle mileage. During our inspection we found the axle seal is leaking, which will result in fluid loss and could cause premature failure of your differential.
Fluid Leaks
Condition
Engine Oil · Differential
Recommended Action
Fluid Leak Inspection
Engine oil leaks can cause additional damage when there is not enough oil circulating to properly lubricate moving parts. There is only a small amount of fluid in the differential — any leaks should be repaired immediately.
